Viking oven model families
Viking electric wall ovens read by prefix, and the prefix is the first step in any Viking oven repair. Single and double 5 Series electric ovens use VSOE/VDOE (VSOE130SS 30-inch single, VSOE527SS and VSOE530SS 27-inch and 30-inch single, VDOE130SS 30-inch double with Vari-Speed Dual Flow). The newer electric naming uses VESO/VEDO (VESO5302SS 30-inch single with an infrared broiler and meat probe). The 7 Series French-door ovens use VSOF/VDOF (VSOF7301SS 30-inch single, VDOF7301SS 30-inch double, 9.4 cu ft). Designer single and double ovens use DESO/DEDO (DESO127SS, DEDO127SS 27-inch).
What the technology means for service
A Viking wall oven carries TruConvec convection, Vari-Speed Dual Flow on dual-fan models, the ProFlow Convection Air Baffle for even heat, TruGlide full-extension racks, an infrared broiler and a meat probe, all run by the EOC or EOC4 control with an RTD sensor. The RTD drives the F1/F2 and F02 codes, the door latch drives F01/F07, the cooling fan drives F03 and the probe drives F04. Identifying whether you own a 5 Series VSOE, a newer VESO or a 7 Series VSOF French-door tells a technician which control generation and parts a repair involves.
Reading the model and where to find it
The rating plate on a built-in oven is usually along the door frame or on the side of the cavity opening, visible with the door open. Record the full model string before booking so the correct element, RTD sensor, door latch, cooling fan or control board is matched to your oven.
Single, double and French-door
The configuration decides both how an oven is used and how it is serviced. A single oven has one cavity and control; a double oven (VDOE, VDOF) has two cavities, two controls and two sets of sensors and latches; and a French-door VSOF opens with two side-hinged doors and adds that door mechanism. The control generation — older EOC versus newer EOC4 — decides which F-code chart applies, which is why the exact model matters. Giving a technician the full model number ensures the right control, sensor and latch parts arrive. You can browse comparable units on the oven models page.
